According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, in July 2025, China exported 694,000 complete vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 25.6% and a month-on-month increase of 12.1%. During the same period, the total import and export value of China's automotive goods reached $24.98 billion, up 0.7% year-on-year and 6.4% month-on-month. Among this, the export value was $20.48 billion, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 13.6% and a month-on-month increase of 6%.
China's automobile exports continue to maintain a positive trend of simultaneous growth in both volume and value, primarily driven by the export of new energy vehicles (NEVs).
A representative from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers stated that new energy vehicles are typical examples of China’s "New Three" exports. According to the association’s statistical standards, China exported 1.284 million NEVs in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, and this figure is expected to reach a new high in 2025.
However, it is also important to note that behind the continuous development of the global automotive market, uncertainties in the international supply chain, fluctuations in logistics costs, and the complexity of trade barriers remain significant challenges for Chinese automotive enterprises expanding into overseas markets. Therefore, how to build an efficient and stable logistics system for the automotive industry and how to enhance the management level of the automotive supply chain are topics of common concern for professionals in both the automotive and logistics sectors.
The International Shipping, Ports & Logistics and Multimodal Transport (Shanghai) Exhibition (ISL Expo) aims to "gather port, shipping, rail, and air resources to connect foreign trade cargo owners," providing a platform for cooperation and mutual benefit for both capacity suppliers and demanders. From 2023 to 2025, ISL Expo has been held for three consecutive years, and each year it has hosted automotive-themed forums during the exhibition, aiming to create a platform for stakeholders in the automotive industry supply chain to communicate, share experiences, discuss trends, and establish collaborations.
On May 22, 2025, as one of the key concurrent events of the third International Shipping, Ports & Logistics and Multimodal Transport (Shanghai) Exhibition (ISL Expo 2025), the 2025 China Automobile and Auto Parts Export and International Logistics Forum was held at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing (SHCEC).
The forum brought together industry leaders, experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from fields such as automobile manufacturing, auto parts exports, and international logistics. Participants discussed hot topics related to automobile and auto parts exports, shared successful experiences, and explored optimization paths for the international supply chain.
During the thematic sharing session, Xu Shigang, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Automobile Distribution Association, introduced the development of the automotive industry in the Yangtze River Delta and the automobile export situation in Jiangsu Province. Zhang Mengjiao, General Manager of Shanghai Longchuang Automotive Design Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled "New Models for R&D and Supply Chain Globalization of China’s New Energy Vehicles." Xu Tian, Head of International Logistics Services at Wuhan Dongfeng Motor Import and Export Co., Ltd., discussed future collaboration directions for integrated logistics companies from the perspective of major initiatives and achievements in automobile globalization. Zhang Jie, General Manager of the JinfEihong Auto Parts Platform, shared practical experiences on how the auto parts industry can enhance competitiveness through integrated services against the backdrop of global supply chain restructuring. Wang Qunjie, Chairman of Huasheng Automotive Group, analyzed market distribution strategies, exploring how new energy vehicles can avoid highly competitive red ocean markets and providing suggestions for tapping into blue ocean markets. Wang Yiming, Assistant General Manager of Nanjing Port Jiangsheng Automobile Terminal Co., Ltd., shared insights on how ports and terminals can collaborate with international logistics to facilitate efficient automobile exports. Huang Wei, Director of the Ocean Shipping Department at Qingdao Rongshengda International Logistics Co., Ltd., presented practical cases of Rongshengda’s efforts in building efficient logistics solutions.
The 2025 China Automobile and Auto Parts Export and International Logistics Forum provided an effective communication and cooperation platform for automotive enterprises and port and shipping logistics companies. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges and reached broad consensus, making the event a great success.
Participants engaged in lively discussions and exchanges.
It is reported that the 4th International Shipping, Ports & Logistics and Multimodal Transport (Shanghai) Exhibition (ISL Expo 2026) will be held from April 22 to 24, 2026, at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing (SHCEC).
